In 2019, the Norfolk academy opened on a city rec center floor, no lease, no buildout, and became the operating proof behind every step on this site.
Where the Curriculum Was Built
The origin
In 2015, Sifu Edward Armstrong built a nationally recognized light sword academy in Virginia Beach, the founding academy where the nine-form curriculum, the rank system and the safety protocols were first developed with the other three founding masters.
What followed
The federation rebuilt from that foundation in 2017, engineered against every failure mode the founders had survived, and every LSTA academy since, military or civilian, teaches the same nine-form system born on that floor.
The Norfolk Academy
The model
The Norfolk academy is the operating proof behind every LSTA step on this site. Built on a city rec center floor, the academy runs an 8-revenue-stream business: academy tuition, Saber Tag league revenue, drop-in conversion, sponsor income, merchandise margins, event fees and instructor training, all on the same floor.

The Two Federal Contracts: Langley AFB and Fort Eustis.
Sifu Julliana Armstrong was awarded two U.S. federal contracts and delivered LSTA programming at Langley Air Force Base and Fort Eustis, teaching light sword martial arts to active-duty personnel and their families. The full nine-form curriculum ran under the same rank standard as every civilian academy. Both contracted programs have since concluded.

The deployment
The full nine-form LSTA curriculum ran under federal contract at both installations, taught to active-duty, reserve and retired personnel and their families. Both contracts ran the same curriculum, the same rank system and the same Code of S.A.B.E.R. as every civilian academy.
